Rachel Mishenene

Executive Director, Indigenous Programs

Rachel Mishenene is a member of Eabametoong First Nation and blood born to Mishkegogamang First Nation. She has 15 years’ experience in teaching K-12 classrooms and educators, developing curriculum, and designing professional learning opportunities and numerous educational resources focused on Indigenous education for educators in Ontario and Canada. With research experience, Rachel has focused on Indigenous student engagement, education programming for Indigenous learners, and First Nations parent engagement.

As an author, Rachel has co-editing Strength and Struggle: Perspectives of First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples in Canada (McGraw-Hill, 2011) and most recently was a contributing writer in My Best Idea: Culturally Relevant Pedagogy (Rubicon Publishing, 2022). Rachel is also a recipient of Canada’s national Indspire's 2018 Guiding the Journey: Indigenous Educator Award.
